Most of these photos are of Furze which had been set on fire by either careless visitors or 'local intellectuals'. Luckily, the Military Fire Station is only a few hundred meters away and are called out regularly during the Summer months. Furze burn readily resulting in great damage in a very short time badly effecting wildlife including the ubiquitous rabbit.
The above two photos are of areas which were dug out by the military as part of the trench practice.
